Genome Sciences Core (GSC)

About The Core

The Genome Sciences Core (GSC), a part of Wayne State University’s vibrant scientific community, is housed in the Integrative Biosciences Center over 1,100 ft2 of space.  It includes a pre-amplification laboratory used for sample receipt, DNA isolation, RNA isolation, PCR set-up as well as post-amplification laboratories for next-generation sequencing and single-cell studies which house quantitation instruments, imaging equipment and thermocyclers.  Two primary sequencing platforms are available to meet various needs. The core team performs library preparations for optimal cluster generation and maximal data output across flow cells to cover a wide range of sequencing needs including targeted sequencing, transcriptome profiling, metagenomics, methylation and whole genome sequencing. Alternatively, researchers can submit user prepared libraries for quality control and sequencing.
